thesublime.jpgI’m often asked why I read more ebooks than ‘real’ books? The obvious answer is that ebooks are real books, just in another format. But what’s the truth? I look for YA novels that stretch and break down boundaries. That say new things in new ways. Ways that traditional print publishers might shy away from or overlook. So the most rewarding thing about running a site like Teen eBooks is finding those sleeper hits. Those writers you just know are going to carve their names in the larger scene of English authorship. Across Thin White Lines is Jim Green’s fictitious examination of social segregation, following ‘Shorstack’ Johnson, a seventh grade student who vocalizes questions about the world around him when everyone else stays silent. The Winchester Mystery by Carol Parsons follows three kids in a quest for hidden treasure. Both novels are available for $6 in ebook format from the Wings ePress homepage.

zygradon_100.jpgWe’ve just received word that Uncial Press will publish Michelle Levigne’s second novel in the Zygradon series in April 2008. The original novel, an ‘Arthurian fantasy’ about a boy born to fulfill a prophecy, is available now. You can find out more at Levigne’s homepage.

It’s about a Leven Thumps, Clover Ernest and Winter Frore, and an adventure to turn a toothpick into (or rather back into) an heir to the throne of Foo. Or something quite like that. It’s available for just over $5 from Simon’s site.
